When it comes to providing health care to Manitobans, health care support workers are already all-in, and we need the government to go all-in for health care workers too. That’s the message we’re bringing back to the table.

Will we be on strike?
The CUPE bargaining team will go back to the bargaining table with a strike mandate from the membership. No strike date has been set yet. But rest assured, with your strike mandate CUPE is going all-in at the table.

  • At the table: Being “all-in” means using our collective strike mandate to strengthen our power at the bargaining table, in the workplace, and in the streets.
  • Preparing to strike: Every action, big or small, contributes to our collective success. When we go all-in, we put our resources as Canada’s largest union to work. We have already begun preparations for potential strike action.
  • What about the groups that voted to ratify? Strike action would only be for the groups that rejected the agreement. But that doesn’t mean they are left out. We are fighting for all health care support workers, and they’ll have a role to play too.
  • We Have Your Back: CUPE’s national strike fund can carry you through a strike. We have the largest strike fund of any union in Canada and will start strike pay on day-one of the strike.
  • Picket captain & strike training is beginning: If you are interested in being a picket captain, contact your local. We will have a sign-up for picket captains soon!

Update your contact information
We strongly encourage all members to provide your updated personal contact information to your CUPE local. If a strike takes place, we will need to be able to contact you with real-time updates.

In the leadup to any potential strike, solidarity and support is critical to our success.
So, let’s be united and go all-in together.

Please reach out to CUPE at healthcare@cupe.ca if you have any questions and stay tuned for our next bargaining update.
