Update on Dues Overcharges and Next Steps

As part of our ongoing efforts to hold the employer accountable regarding the overcharging of dues, the employer has now completed a review and gathered the necessary information to address the issue.

The union and the employer will be working collaboratively to ensure that any monies owed to affected members are reimbursed.

The employer has advised that their findings indicate the issue impacted former MGEU members who transitioned to CUPE.

We have also clarified the application of dues deductions. CUPE dues are deducted only from regular hours worked.

This situation highlights the importance of members reviewing their paystubs every pay period.

If you believe there is an error on your pay, please bring it to the attention of your manager and involve your site or area union representative. If an error is identified, your manager will complete a pay discrepancy form, after which the issue should be corrected in a timely manner.
