Forming a new committee:
This is our first communication out to our 4270 Members to introduce that we are looking to form a Young Workers Committee for members 35 years of age and younger.
The Young Workers Committee is for members ages 35 and younger. We are the next generation of union activists and we are focused on:
- Getting young workers involved in their union
- Increasing representation of young workers
- Addressing issues that affect younger workers
- Having fun together and holding social events that are welcoming and inclusive
The Young Workers Committee meets regular online. If you would be interested in being a part of helping to create and be involved in this committee to get more of our Young Members engaged, please reach out to the info@cupe4270.ca email to learn more or get involved.
We will be looking for a Committee Chair, CoChair, Secretary & Treasurer for this committee.
Terms of Reference & budget will be the first steps needing to be taken for this committee.
Young Workers aren’t just the future of our union, they are the present – and they make up 18% of CUPE’s membership nationwide.
How can locals do a better job engaging and empowering young CUPE members?
